With the firm purpose of helping underprivileged children in Venezuela, Lotus Foundation, located in the city of Orlando, Florida, will hold a bingo and bazaar this coming Thursday, August 8, to raise funds and school supplies before the return to school scheduled for the month of September.
The activity has been carried out for seven years and covers children from rural communities in the city of San Cristóbal, located in the state of Táchira in Venezuela.
Maya Valdivia, president of the organization, says that each year the number of school supplies delivered increases. “Last year we benefited 550 children and this year our goal is to reach 1,000 aid packages,” she explains. To help with the goal of delivering school kits, Lotus Foundation Venezuela has $45 donation tickets on sale through Eventbrite to participate in the fundraising bingo with great prizes. If you don’t prefer to play, you can contribute with your $20 ticket and enjoy the event where there will be local entrepreneurs exhibiting their creations. You can also donate new school supplies on the day of the bazaar.
“The idea is to make the beginning of school more bearable for these children who live in very remote areas in Venezuela. Most of them have to walk up to three miles with their notebooks in a plastic bag. Their parents have very limited financial resources and having something as simple as a backpack is a luxury they cannot afford, so this Thursday, August 8, everyone has the opportunity to make it possible for a child to go to school, ‘help to help’ that is our goal,” explains Valdivia.
It is worth noting that Lotus Foundation Venezuela is under the Lotus Behavioral Health organization, located in Winter Springs, Florida, whose mission is to help adolescents between 12 and 17 years old with drug addiction problems in the United States, while in Venezuela, the activity is supported by the Red Cross, Universidad de Los Andes, Industria La Andina, architect Mayra Márquez and Dr. Néstor Sánchez and his family.
Don’t miss this opportunity to have fun, support a great cause and make a difference in the lives of Venezuelan children. The bingo and bazaar will take place next Thursday, August 8th from 5 pm at the Eola View, located at 150 East Central Boulevard, Orlando, FL, 32801.
